Applications for UniVol 2019 have closed.

Applications for the 2020 programme will open in May 2019.

The UniVol Programme is a collaboration between VSA and Otago University, Victoria University, Auckland University and Massey University. The programme aims to provide a personal and professional development opportunity for selected candidates as well as contributing to existing VSA development programmes and improving development education in New Zealand.

The UniVol programme has been operating for 11 years. To continue this proud tradition, we are looking for adaptable and tenacious young Kiwis prepared to take on their own life-changing UniVol adventure in 2020.

If you are accepted on to the programme you’ll be offered a 10-month overseas field placement with one of VSA’s partner organisations during the academic year, beginning in early 2020.

You will be eligible if you are:

  • enrolled in either Geography, Development Studies or a related discipline at participating universities (Otago, Victoria, Auckland, Massey) and,
  • able to demonstrate an understanding of development through having completed development papers at 300 or postgraduate level or relevant practical experience in development, and
  • a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and
  • aged 30 years or under on July 31 2019.

Please note: partners or dependent children cannot accompany UniVols on assignment.
