Our Partner Organisation - HAMNASA (Hamutuk Nasaun Saudavel)

National NGO HAMNASA was established in 2017 by a group of INGO Health Alliance International (HAI) staff. HAMNASA continues to implement health-focused programs that aim to strengthen the government health system, applying a health system strengthening approach and supply and demand model.
HAMNASA Vision: All Timorese are healthy and happy HAMNASA Mission: To promote healthy communities in Timor-Leste through programs that strengthen the public sector primary health care, engage communities to take an active role in their health, and foster social and health equity.
HAMNASA’s three main goals are quality, growth and organizational strengthening.

The Assignment

This assignment is a partnership assignment between VSA and HAMNASA Timor-Leste. In this assignment, the volunteer will provide support and build capacity working with the team to see improved HAMNASA policy implementation and governance to address gender-based issues in Timor-Leste.

A VSA volunteer, with experience in gender advocacy and stakeholder engagement will play a key role in supporting HAMNASA to strengthen and develop the local policies and procedures for better outcomes, through engagement with government agencies.
 
The Volunteer

Are you someone who wants to make a difference, have a sense of adventure and like the challenge of being outside your comfort zone?  VSA Volunteers are technical experts who impart their skills and knowledge to the local community. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, resilient with a passion for Aotearoa and the wider Pacific community.

We're looking for a volunteer with the following:

• Experience in gender-based issues
• Facilitation skills, including utilizing participatory training approaches
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience of teamwork, mentoring and developing others

Desirable
• Experience developing organisational policy and procedures
• Experience in change management and/or aligning coordination and governance to
comply with minimum standards and policy requirements
• Coaching skills

The Country

There are 1,225,000 people living in Timor-Leste (formerly known as East Timor). Timor-Leste is one of the world's newest nations and the newest in Southeast Asia with history of colonisation and occupation. Timor-Leste became independent in 2002.
