What is UniVol?  
VSA’s UniVol programme aims to provide new graduates with an extraordinary overseas experience in the Pacific while contributing to existing VSA programmes and improving international development education in New Zealand.
  
The UniVol programme has been operating since 2006.

Am I eligible for the UniVol Programme?  
The UniVol programme is a collaboration between Volunteer Service Abroad - Te Tūao Tāwāhi (VSA) and Otago, Victoria, Massey, and Auckland universities. Therefore, to be eligible you must: 
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident 
  • Be 30 years old or under
  • Recently graduated, or graduating in 2024, from a New Zealand University.
About the Assignment 
In this assignment a VSA Volunteer is required to provide assistance and support to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - Knua Juventude Fila-Liman's (KJFL'S) goal, which is to transform idle youth to become change makers and social innovators through leadership and entrepreneurship, tackling challenges and seizing opportunities. in providing an integrated end-to-end support service from idea generation, start-up to scale up, youth are also engaged in mentorship programmes, focus groups and trainings which shape positive behavioural changes and develop citizenship.

Services provided include training and incubation, business registration and legal advice, financing and financial literacy, innovation camps and challenges, research and leadership development, internships and employment opportunities, internet access and online learning, and E-Market platform connecting demand to supply for skills, services, and products. 

The Partner Organisation - United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - KJFLKnua Juventude Fila-Liman (KJFL).
Knua Juventude Fila-Liman (KJFL) is a one-stop-shop platform for youth innovation, employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership. KJFL was launched on the 16th of August 2017 and is managed and sponsored by UNDP Timor–Leste. It is a public-private partnership focused on two main pillars: youth voices and opportunities.
    
The Country - Timor-Leste
There are 1,225,000 people living in Timor-Leste (formerly known as East Timor). Timor-Leste is one of the world's newest nations and the newest in Southeast Asia with history of colonisation and occupation.  Timor-Leste became independent in 2002.
 
About You 
  • Degree in Business or qualification in Tourism
  • Basic understanding of business development plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with fellow volunteers, staff, and community members.
  • Strong written language skills for writing news articles, and other materials
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and solve problems as they arise, sometimes in outdoor and remote settings.
  • Ability to at times take the lead on new and existing projects, demonstrating self-starting qualities.      
Desirable: 
  • Ability to organise a workshop.
  • Knowledge in Business and Marketing
