This is your opportunity to become a VSA Volunteer to share your experience, skills and knowledge to serve and build capacity in the Solomon Islands. Working alongside our local partner organisation to plan and create a brighter future for all. This will be a 12 month assignment based in Honiara.
We are looking for an asset management specialist with experience in logistics or Business administration or someone with the right level of transferrable skills, who understands and shares the spirit of volunteering, with a keen interest in building capability in the Pacific.
The VSA will support you by funding and organizing your flights, visas, insurances, accommodation, living allowance and utilities while you are on assignment.

About Our Partner Organisation: National Referral Hospital
The National Referral Hospital (NRH) provides secondary to tertiary health care services. It has 49 departments, mostly covering direct patient care although some are for corporate services and non-clinical public health services. The National Referral Hospital is the major hospital in the country. It admits the largest number of patients around 14,000 per year. The hospital also has a nursing education programme that supports the professional development of nurses.
The Assignment:
As the volunteer Asset Management Advisor, you'll immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Solomon Islands, aiding and guiding the NRH with the development of systems and procedures for the management of all tangible hospital assets. You will undertake an audit of assets and ensure that systems and processes are in place to manage assets day-to-day as well as life-cycle management and reporting to ensure hospital leadership have full visibility of hospital assets.
The Country – The Solomon Islands:
The Solomon Islands has over 900 islands, 5,000 rural villages and 550,000 people. Between 1999 and 2003 it experienced a period of conflict which took a heavy toll on the country and left a need for reconciliation and on-going peace and security measures.
A request for assistance by the government in 2003 led Australia, New Zealand and other Pacific Island countries to form the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) which restored peace and security. VSA has established a strong presence in Solomon Islands through its ongoing partnerships with multiple in-country partners, including strong relationships with Solomon Islands Government.

- A qualification in business administration or logistics, and/or experience as an asset manager, stock controller, inventory manager
- Working knowledge of Asset Management/Inventory management software
- Prior experience of Asset Management audits
