About the role:
This newly created People & Culture Manager position will play a critical role in developing and driving VSA's People strategies, and implementing/overseeing key initiatives, to ensure the organisation's workplace culture aligns with its new strategic intent, which includes an enhanced commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi and a strengthening of VSA’s ties to the pacific.
Reporting directly to the Director of People, Finance, and Workplace, this role encompasses the leadership of a newly refreshed and agile People and Culture team who will together focus on continuous development of people policies and wellbeing practices that serve their people located here in Aotearoa and across the pacific.

What you will be doing:
This role is a broad and practical role, so you will have a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing VSA's people and workplace culture. Some of your key focuses will include:
- Leading a small team, which manages the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to onboarding and performance management.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive people policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with best practice standards.
- Overseeing the delivery of wellbeing and H&S systems that support employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Driving initiatives that promote professional development and a positive workplace culture.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to tackle people-related challenges.
- Providing expert guidance on employment relations matters and resolving conflicts.
What you will bring:
- Extensive experience as an HR generalist with a desire to lead a small team.
- Strong experience with managing Employment Relation matters and working knowledge of employment legislation both here in New Zealand and within the Pacific
- The ability to flex between strategic and operational HR work.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective HR strategies that drive engagement.
- Exceptional cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to influence diverse stakeholders positively.
- Strong analytical skills to assess HR metrics and make data-driven decisions.
- A commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and professional growth within the organisation.
