ADRA Timor-Leste has been working in Viqueque Municipality since 2011 to implement WASH, agriculture, and livelihood programs. Viqueque is a small, quiet, and safe town nestled at the base of beautiful forested mountains. The town and surrounding area offer many opportunities for sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods. This assignment will support ADRA’s Viqueque Sustainable Agro-Enterprise Farmers to Market (FarMar) Development Project. The FarMar project builds on ADRA’s experience working in Kitchen Gardens and supporting agriculture livelihoods.
We are looking for a Small Business Marketing Adviser to promote agro-enterprises and educate farmers in Timor-Leste about the advantages of collective marketing. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who is keen to utilise their experience in Marketing or Agribusiness to make a real impact on the lives of people in Viqueque, Timor Leste.
In this assignment you will focus primarily on increasing the capacity of the Business Development Component Manger and Facilitators to assess training needs and develop targeted and prioritised training and mentoring programs for farmers and agro-enterprises.
You will work closely with the Business Development Component Manager and Value Chain Component Manager in the Viqueque office and the Program Director in the Dili office. This assignment is based in Dili however as the ideal candidate you will be comfortable travelling remotely to Viqueque for field trips.
NB: Candidates will be considered who possess the skills and experience outlined in the ‘General Specifications’ section. In addition to these general competencies for the role, candidates are expected to have experience either in Marketing or Agribusiness. We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Experience in small to medium scale agro-enterprise management
- Experience and knowledge of supporting farmers to collectively market produce through agro-enterprises
- Knowledge of programme planning, monitoring and reporting
- Experience in working in teams and in the effective delivery of projects activities
- Experience mentoring others and ability to develop training materials
