Make an impact on nursing education in Bougainville by sharing your skills with the Arawa School of Nursing.

Building on the work of the current VSA volunteer, you will help to strengthen professional and educational standards and effective management systems at the school. This will involve working alongside lecturers to enhance course delivery in-line with the approved curriculum. On a daily basis you will be supporting staff across a number of areas ie: course delivery covering theory and practice, student record keeping, planning, and evaluation etc. With a strong emphasis on mentoring and capacity building you will help lecturers review existing teaching materials and methodologies, identify areas for improvement and develop new initiatives.

With a dual focus you will also help staff to improve operational systems and practices. This important work will support institutional strengthening by enabling staff to better manage administration at the school. Dependent on the skills of the volunteer, there is also scope within this assignment to contribute to the establishment of a professional development initiative at the institute.
