Use your ESOL skills to strengthen English language education and support a brighter future for i-Kiribati citizens.

Working alongside the Ministry of education you will assess the teaching skills of existing English teachers and teacher trainers to identify professional development pathways. With a strong focus on mentoring and skills transfer, you will help teachers to develop resources and deliver lessons in-line with the national curriculum. Part of this assignment will also involve working closely with tertiary institutes to establish bridging programmes for youth into higher education.

Education in Kiribati is vital as the country responds to climate-change and its impacts. This assignment offers a rewarding opportunity to equip citizens with the English skills necessary to compete and work internationally.  

We are looking for a volunteer with:

  • Teaching qualification and relevant teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching English as a second language
  • Experience in educational resource development
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching and on-the-job training of teachers

VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.
