Expected Start Date: April - May 2020
Assignment Number: 41264

Timor-Leste is a tropical island nation of great natural beauty with a history of colonisation and occupation leading to independence in 2002. As a young nation, Timor-Leste is moving from a post conflict fragile state to a developing, resilient republic. However, many people are still suffering from deep trauma as a result of the 25-year occupation and conflict, and this is impacting on all aspects of people’s lives. This is potentially hindering the ability of communities to move forward, and more widely Timor’s development as a country.
PRADET is a national NGO organisation that provides a psychosocial service for people who are experiencing trauma, mental illness and other psychosocial problems in Timor Leste. This assignment offers a rewarding opportunity to provide essential support for community members to heal and build themselves a positive future.
As the ideal candidate you will have a strong background in Therapy or related discipline and be able to facilitate training workshops and mentor staff on creative arts based therapy programmes for trauma recovery. You will also assist staff to monitor and evaluate their programmes, this includes working alongside staff to implement peer supervision groups.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Qualification in creative arts therapy, counselling or psychotherapy
- Experience in the development and delivery of creative art-based therapy programs specifically to address trauma
- Skilled in training, supervising and mentoring other professionals
- Experience tailoring programmes to the specific needs of men, women, teenagers and children
