Work alongside the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy to improve asset management and strengthen infrastructure in Kiribati.

The Ministry is responsible for improving access to quality, climate-change resilient infrastructure in both urban and rural areas. However, currently there is no asset register or records to support management, planning or implementation of infrastructure maintenance.

Working collaboratively with Ministry staff, you will help investigate and develop a comprehensive asset management plan. Through on-the-job training and mentoring, you will help strengthen the capabilities of Ministry staff to effectively plan and implement regular maintenance. Part of your role will also involve assisting the IT Unit to establish an electronic tracking system to store and access asset management information.

This assignment offers a rewarding opportunity to provide vital support to Kiribati and enable robust asset management for a more climate-resilient future.

We are looking for a volunteer with:

  • A qualification in infrastructure management, engineering, or other relevant fields
  • Proven experience managing infrastructure assets within the public sector
  • Experience developing and implementing asset management plans
  • Experience with electronic data storage, networking and/or information management

VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.
