Expected Start Date: 19-29 August 2019
Assignment Number: 40955
Location: Tarawa, Kiribati
A unique opportunity to use your architectural experience to support environmentally sustainable construction in Kiribati.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy (MISE) has limited resources and trained architects and has recently been tasked with designing a four-storey building to house three to four government ministries.
In this assignment you will coach and mentor MISE designers during their daily tasks and help complete a work plan and design programme that will take the building to a finalised design stage.
You will also look to introduce new design tools, other than AutoCAD, that can help the team save time in their work. Your ability to share different design approaches will also help build the capacity of local designers.
You will report to the Director of Engineering Services and work closely with all staff of the Architectural Unit (also referred to as Technical Design Services) within the MISE.
Your community focus and ability to adapt to work with limited resources will help you succeed in this role.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- A degree in architecture
- At least five years’ experience in architectural design
- Experience with at least three design software programmes
- Experience leading the design of a multi-storey building (two or more storeys)
