The Samoa Conservation Society (SCS) is an NGO dedicated to promoting the conservation of Samoa’s biological diversity and natural heritage which is continually at threat from invasive species, over harvesting, habitat degradation, pollution and climate change.  SCS assists with overcoming these challenges through undertaking research and a variety of projects and initiatives.  As projects and funding increases, so too does the need for efficient financial management processes.

In the assignment you will work with SCS staff to review their current processes and procedures, and provide recommendations for improvement.  Given the nature of working with funding over fixed time periods, you will also assist SCS in developing long term, sustainable growth plans.

This is a great 6-month opportunity if you have a background in finance, and want to work alongside an organisation striving to minimise environmental impacts and create a more sustainable world.

We are looking for a volunteer with:

  • A relevant degree and/or equivalent experience in financial management
  • Professional experience working for NGO’s/organisations reliant on external funding sources
  • Professional experience coaching or managing a team
  • Professional experience working with small business, low budget, financial systems

VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.
