The Samoa Business Hub – SBH, formerly known as “The Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) was established in 1994 as a Charitable Trust.
Samoa Business Hub (SBH) is a program that provides business training, advisory services and a business loan guarantee scheme.
It is designed to allow micro and start-up businesses to access finance from within the Green Business Support Credit (GBSC) Scheme. SBH is expanding its advisory and support services to a wider range of businesses.
The program is integral to the involvement of partners and sponsors who share a common interest in developing the business community and economy of Samoa.
SBH provides a structured training program tailored for small businesses and personal mentoring to guide entrepreneurs on their path to growth.
The Assignment
This assignment is a partnership assignment between VSA and The Samoa Business Hub.
In this assignment a VSA Volunteer with expertise in Computer Systems will help to identify major gaps in streamlining different platforms.
In addition, the VSA Volunteer will contribute to building capacity in, data collecting, efficiency and reliability of the functionality of the database (input, analysis and reporting), and system's ability to produce timely reports and necessary information when needed, this will strengthen the work of SBH and our capacity to provide efficient services to our partners.

VSA Volunteers are technical experts who impart their skills and knowledge to the local community. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, resilient with a passion for Aotearoa and the wider Pacific community.
We're looking for a volunteer with the following:
The Country
Samoa, is situated in the South Pacific approximately halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand. It sits squarely in the cyclone belt and is highly vulnerable to devastating storms. Around three-quarters of its 195,000 population live on the main island of Upolu; the rest live on the neighboring island of Savai'i or one of the seven small islets.
The traditional Samoan way, the fa’a Samoa, remains a strong force in Samoan life and politics where family is all-important, and elders are highly respected.
Each village is made up of extended families that are represented on the village council by a chief (matai). The more western-style parliamentary system in Samoa is highly influenced by traditional social systems and the family, civic and political duties performed by the matai at village level. The country is predominantly Christian.
