Facilities Operations Support Adviser

With VSA's e-Volunteering programme we are continuing to support our partner organisations in the Pacific while working from Aotearoa. 

This assignment is a 6 month part-time E Volunteering opportunity working from home. The assignment will be working with the Solomon Islands National Sports Council (NSC) a government initiative which supports athletes, coaches and sports at an international level in the Solomon Islands. NSC's purpose is to grow people through sport; develop people holistically to be successful in sport and life; and support the preparations for the Solomon Islands 2023 Pacific Games - which will be the largest sporting evening in Solomon history. 

This assignment will support NSC  establish good practices and systems in facility management and operations. As this will be the first facility of its kind in Solomon Islands, NSC will require some mentoring of its staff to ensure the facilities are well managed, operated and maintained. The volunteer will support and mentor local staff to understand and implement high standards in facility management, asset management and operations.

We are looking for a volunteer with the following skills:
  • Experience in managing facility operations and knowledge of purchasing, supplies, grounds keeping and equipment maintenance and repair
  • Experience in developing and/or implementing facility booking system
  • Strong contract management and administration process development capabilities 
  • Able to work from home and utilise appropriate technology to engage with our partner organisation
