The Organisation
The Malaita Provincial Government works with the Solomon Islands National Government to on a range of local government initiatives. The Malaita Provincial Government employees over 200 staff and is headed by  the Provincial Secretary who is accountable for all divisions within the Provincial Government.  One of the divisions within the Malaita Provincial Government, the division of Sport is responsible for supporting and facilitating  all provincial sporting initiatives through schools and community.

The Assignment
The Malaita Provincial Government Sports Division is currently working with sporting organisations and groups in Malaita to prepare for the 2023 Pacific Games.  An adviser is being sought to support Malaita Provincial Government by building capacity in planning and writing of strategy documents. The volunteer will also assist the Sports Division to link the goals of the Malaita Provincial Government to those of the central government 2023 Pacific Games to ensure there is alignment.

This is an e-volunteering assignment working from home. The volunteer can be based anywhere in New Zealand and we are looking for minimum commitment of 5 hours per week.

The Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer with
  • Experience in sports development, sport coaching, personal training or related field.
  • Experience in sports management and planning.
  • Ability to write strategic plans, proposals and reports.
  • Skills in training, coaching and mentoring of staff
