The Organisation
Widely perceived as an integral part of the Fisheries Sector in Samoa, Apia Export Fish Packers (AEFP) has a vision to supply high-quality fresh fish sourced from Samoa's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) for export and local markets. Since it's founding in 1996,  the company’s activities have expanded to include the supply of frozen fish to overseas canneries. They currently  have a large fleet of fishing vessels ranging from lengths of 12.5m and 26m with a capacity to carry between 7m and 45m, storage facilities and an established transportation system for  stock. 

The Assignment
Samoa  is a party to several regional and international treaties and agreements relating to the management of regional fisheries.  AEFP often finds itself  in continual need of support in this area and is currently  looking for a volunteer to support the development and implementation of a number of robust systems and  processes that comply with regional and national  regulations  and agreements.  Working from home for a minimum of five to ten hours per week, this is an e-volunteer assignment. The volunteer can can be based anywhere in New Zealand and work flexibly, around the hours that suit them. 

The Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer with the fallowing skills and experience:
  • Qualification and experience in Food Safety and Health
  • Experience as a Health and Safety, Food Safety or Quality/Quantity Assurance Officer (preferably in the Fisheries Sector)
  • Experience in developing or revising Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plans
  • Experience / Qualifications in Food Drug Administration (FDA)
