The Organisation
CARE International is a worldwide humanitarian aid and development organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. A non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development projects and providing emergency relief. CARE has had a presence in Timor Leste since 1994.

The Assignment
This is an e-volunteer assignment based in New Zealand. CARE International is looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Kiwi with strong commercial acumen to support the growth Lafaek Learning Media, one of CARE International in Timor Leste's flagship projects.  

Lafaek Learning Media has been bringing  smiles and learning to Timorese people since 2001. Lafaek education magazines reach homes, teachers and students across Timor-Leste and currently, the Facebook page is one of the most popular in the country. Working from home, for a minimum of 5 hours per week, the Business Development Mentor will guide the Lafaek team to develop processes, conduct mapping and devise strategies to approach potential sponsors and partners, thereby facilitating the growth of this amazing social enterprise. 

The Volunteer
This is a unique opportunity to effectively contribute to the growth of a social enterprise that seeks tp empower communities through education. VSA is looking for a volunteer with:
  • Ability to work from home and utilise appropriate technology to engage with our partner organisation;
  • Experience in business development, sales or fundraising;
  • Financial analysis and budgeting skills; and 
  • Experience in providing on-the-job training and mentoring staff.
