Help improve learning outcomes for secondary school children of East New Britain.
VSA’s PNG education programme is focused on delivering high quaility early childhood and secondary school training. In this role you will work alongside local counter-parts to improve secondary level focused teacher training.
Working with the East New Britain Provincial Administration Division of Education, you will observe and assesss current teaching and learning practices in the region. Drawing from your observations, you will develop improvement plans to help strengthen local teacher practices through mentoring and structured assessment. At a systems level you will develop strategies that aim to contribute to more effective teaching and learning practices., as well as developing the collective capacity of schools to encourage a culture continious improvement.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
  • Relevant teaching qualification/s and teaching experience in secondary school education
  • Model and facilitate protocols, structures, and activities to generate group learning
  • Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner
  • Ability to mentor, coach and support professional development of teachers
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning
  • Resilience and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
As a result of your work in this assignment you will improve the education system, enable delivery of higher standards of education, ensuring that students have the education and skills they need to contribute to the economic and social development of PNG.
VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.

VSA covers flights, accommodation, insurance and some expenses. A living allowance is also provided.
