Fundraising and Membership Manager

Lead the development of the fundraising and membership bases for an international development NGO whose impact is through supporting volunteering in the wider Pacific Region.

We have a full-time (37.5 hours) permanent position available.

Ko wai mātou – Who are we

Volunteer Service Abroad: Te Tūao Tāwāhi (VSA) is an volunteering agency working in international development. We develop partnerships so we can send our volunteers on assignment. Our volunteers share their skills, experiences, and knowledge with local people and communities in the wider pacific region to make real, sustainable change. 

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position

In this role, you will lead and develop VSA’s fundraising strategy and campaigns. Mapping and engaging with donors along the full donor journey and lifecycle, covering all facets of fundraising. You will also focus on retaining and growing our membership base - developing and delivering for our members an engaging membership programme. For both these programmes, you will have a sharp eye for analysing data to identify trends and ensure effective audience segmentation.

You will manage the Fundraising and Membership Coordinator, who completes your team and be a part of the wider Stakeholder Engagement Team. As well as pulling in funds, you will get to distribute development funds to our Pacific partners through the coordination of VSA’s Special Grants Programme.

Someone who has a commitment and a willingness to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to your work.

As our Fundraising and Membership Manager, you will ideally:

  • Have at least five years of proven experience in a fundraising role and also ideally at least five years of proven experience in a membership management role.
  • Know how to best utilise CRMs and donor management systems. Experience in e-Tapestry would be an advantage.
  • Be able to think and contribute to VSA’s strategic intent and development goals through our fundraising and membership programmes.

The starting salary for this role is currently between $79,900 - $94,000, depending on skill and experience. The remuneration for this role is currently being reviewed along with all other roles at VSA and will be considered when appointing the preferred candidate.

This role is based in VSA’s Wellington office, with the flexibility to work-from-home up to a couple of days a week.
