Archive/Storage Project Advisor (Fixed-term)

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position  

You will work on the VSA Archive/Storage Project as part of our 60-year Annviseary Project managed by our Marketing and Communications Team. This role focuses on three elements; first a process to record physical historical records into our storage management system, engaging the help of volunteers; two review our digital storage of imagery and write guidelines for staff; and thirdly during this process identify significant story content that would support VSA in engaging the public with its rich history. 

Our Archive/Storage Project Advisor will understand information management systems and be able to create guidelines for physical and digital information. They will also have great relationships and project management skills to train and engage volunteers to help with the project. You will work with the Marketing and Communications team to identify historic content that will contribute to a 2023 campaign celebrating 60-years of VSA volunteers. 

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role   

We are looking for someone that believes in the value of history and enjoys creating management processes to support celebrating that history. 

As our Archive/Storage Project Advisor you will ideally:  

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Museum Studies or specialist training in archival, information or records management. 
  • Highly organised, disciplined, resilient, and capable of managing a wide range of competing priorities while remaining composed. 
  • Experience in archive management and using online Content Management Systems in addition to a working knowledge of MS Office programmes. 
  • Proven experience in project coordination, developing instructions, training others and coordinating a group of people, ideally volunteers.

The salary for this role is between $64,600 and $76,000 prorated depending on skill and experience. 

This role is Wellington-based. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
