What do you do?

We work to develop collaborative partnerships with some really fantastic New Zealand and Pacific businesses, organisations, NGOs, academic institutions, and regional agencies to support sustainable development in the Pacific. On a daily basis this means I get to work with passionate and motivated people who are interested in helping to provide volunteers, or who need a volunteer to help their work in the Pacific.  I’m constantly impressed by the generosity and enthusiasm of our partners.

What's your favourite thing about your job?

I work with really creative and innovative people and we get to try new ways of working, which is always interesting and lots of fun. I love having a closer connection to the Pacific and it’s great to have a job where you’re giving people the opportunity to undertake the personal and professional experience of a lifetime!

What's your favourite thing about living in New Zealand?

Having such easy access to wild places (and also to delicious food).  I love that 30 minutes from Wellington’s CBD I can be on the wild south coast and feel a hundred miles away from the city. Even better, with a 30 minute flight, I can be with friends and family in wonderful Nelson.

What’s your favourite Pacific saying?

A fia vave o’o lou va’a, alo na o ‘oe. Ae a fia tuli mamao le taunu’uga, tatou ‘alo’alo faatasi. This is a Samoan proverb which means if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together.
