Donella joined Volunteer Service Abroad in June 2022 and brings her experience as a researcher, educator and development practitioner to her role as Principal Development Advisor. Prior to joining, Donella was the Co-Director of the Centre of Global, Studies in Education at the University of Waikato and a Senior Lecturer in Global Studies in Education. During her 11 years at the University of Waikato, Donella provided technical advice for bilateral and multilateral aid programmes throughout the Asia-Pacific region. She was involved in research collaborations and initiatives throughout Oceania which centred on teacher development, mentoring and open distance learning in small island and developing states.
In her spare time, Donella enjoys hiking in the great outdoors, baking tasty treats and beach walks with her dog, Chai.
