Recruitment Advisor (Parental Leave Cover)

You will be helping to support a modern way of volunteering that can take place online or in-person, connecting volunteers with communities’.  

We have one fixed-term full-time position available (8-months till February 2023 for parental leave cover).

Te Tūao Tāwāhi - Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) is New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteering agency working within international development. We partner with businesses, governments and organisations located here and abroad to send volunteers on overseas assignments. Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position 

This role is integral to the Volunteer Recruitment team whose purpose is to attract, select and build relationships with high calibre professional, experienced, and university volunteers for in-country and e-Volunteer assignments with our partner organisations we serve in the wider Pacific. As our Volunteer Recruitment Advisor, you will be involved in end-to-end recruitment.   

The Volunteer Recruitment team is part of the wider Human Resources and Volunteer Services group. Which is made up of three teams focused on our people and our volunteers: Human Resources, Volunteer Recruitment and Operations.  

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role  

We are looking for someone that embodies manaakitanga, who can quickly establish trusted and productive working relationship, and believes in shared learning achievable through volunteering.  

As one of our Recruitment Advisors you will ideally have: 

  • Proven end-to-end recruitment experience. 
  • Experience in an NGO, or international organisation is desirable.  
  • Proven experience interacting with Applicant Tracking Systems and job platforms for active candidate searches. We use Job Adder but familiarity with any ATS is fine. 
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact in a culturally respectful manner at all levels across both New Zealand and Pacific organisations. 
  • Confidence in both verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure.  
  • High level of motivation and initiative, self-management and ability to work autonomously to deliver results to deadline.  
  • Tech-savvy with a working knowledge of Office 365-suite of products, research tools, search engines and document formatting for professional audiences.  
  • Cheerful, positive and comfortable working with a bunch of professional, focused and fun colleagues.  
  • Commitment to and understanding of the principles of the treaty of Waitangi.

The starting salary for this role is between $62,475 - $73,500 depending on skill and experience. 

This role is Wellington-based.
